The article clarifies the causes of the changing climate, outlines its historical and likely development in the near future and continues to identify the risks and impacts on agricultural activity in the area of field production. It discusses the basic impacts related to the vegetation period, biotic and abiotic factors and pays particular attention to drought. The article also describes weather induced and weather related risks for sugar beet cultivation and concludes by a brief description of the adaptation measures that should be taken to negate the changing climatic conditions.
