The relationship between the mineral content of fruit and the watercore problem in Deveci pear

Watercore is an important physiological disorder affecting apples and pears. Although it is a disorder that mostly seen in apples, it can also cause serious problems in sensitive pear varieties. In this study, it was aimed to determine the mineral matter content of the fruit having watercore problem in the pear orchards established with Deveci cultivar in Bursa region. For this purpose, healthy and damaged fruit samples were taken from selected orchards. Phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, zinc, copper and boron were analyzed in these samples and the results were compared. According to the results obtained, there was no difference between the values of phosphorus, potassium, iron, zinc and copper in terms of disordered and healthy fruits. However, calcium, magnesium, manganese and boron values obtained from healthy fruit samples were found to be higher than those with watercore problems. The difference in calcium was found to be quite higher than the other elements.
