Determination of the Profits to the Legislation and of the Seasonal Variations in Somatic Cell Counts of Raw Milk Obtained from Dairy Companies

In this study, it was aimed to determine the profits to legislations and the seasonal variations in somatic cell counts (SCC) of raw milk samples, obtained in three modern dairy companies, taken place in Bandirma District of Balikesir Province of Turkey. The somatic cell counts were determined in the samples of raw milk obtained from morning milking of 50 cows in lactation, monthly by Bently FTS Combi 400 equipment between December-2015 and November-2016. The mean levels of somatic cell counts in the samples of raw milk in Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn periods in three modern dairy companies were detected as 203.975±423.382 SCC ml-1, 163.311±323.566 SCC ml-1, 237.164±130.396 SCC ml-1 and 198.302±672.024 SCC ml-1, respectively. There were statistical importance in the levels of p<0,05 in somatic cell counts determined between both the companies and the monthly and seasonal levels. According to the geometrical means of somatic cell counts, 11 (0,61%) [7 (3,5%) in Company-1., and 4 (2%) in Company-3.] out of totally 600 raw milk samples were exceeded the reported legislations.
