The effects of lysophosphatidylethanolamine (lpe) treatments on fruit maturity in ‘Gemlik’ olive cultivar

This research was carried out to determine the effects of the ripeness of fruits different doses of Lysophosphatidylethanolamine applied to the trees of Gemlik olive variety cultivated in Gömeç/Balıkesir ecological conditions. For this purpose, LPE treatments was applied in spray form to the fruits on the trees on ‘Gemlik’ olive cultivar, approximately 30 days before the harvest, at doses of 0 (control group), 1000 and 2000 mg/L (0.1% and 0.2%, respectively) in 3 replications and 2 trees in each replicates. The effects of maturity index (MI), fruit weight (g 100 fruits⁻¹), flesh ratio (%), total chlorophyll (µg ml⁻¹), total carotenoid contents (µg ml⁻¹) and total phenolic content (mg GAE 100 mg⁻¹) were investigated in Gemlik olive fruits harvested in 10-day periods from October, when the LPE treatments was carried out, to the harvest time, November. As a result of the study, 0.2% LPE application positively affected the coloring of a sample without causing pre-harvest drop in Gemlik olive cultivar, but also increased the quality of the fruit against the control and 0.1% dose applications.
