Determination of Feeding Value of Some Sunflower Varieties with In Vitro Gas Production Technique

Study was carried out to determine of the feed value of five different sunflower varieties by chemical analysis and in vitro gas production technique and to compare feed values. While Dry matter (DM) did not changed (P>0.05); crude protein (CP), crude fat (CF), crude ash (CA), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), hemicellulose (HEM) and digestible organic matter (DOM) were found statistically important between sunflower varieties (P<0.05). The highest CP content was obtained from the variety of TTAE 13-7 with a value of 19.14%, whereas the lowest value was obtained from the TTAE 13-4 variety with a value of 16.79%. CF contents varied from a 42.96% (TTAE 13-1) to 47.25% (TTAE 13-7). CA content was highest at 3.89% in TTAE 13-4 variety. The highest NDF content were obtained from TTAE 13-7 (41.29%) variety. The ADF values were changed from TTAE 13-1 (18.67%) and TTAE 13-7 (21.47%) variety. The highest HEM value was obtained from TTAEM 13-2 variety with a value of 19.02%. The gas production rate of sunflower varieties ranged from 64.00 to 72.50 ml/200 mg. The metabolisable energy (ME) and net energy lactation (NEL) contents of sunflower varieties ranged from 20.07 to 21.50 MJ/kg and 7.88 to 8.86 MJ/kg respectively. Methane (CH4) production were found to be statistically important between sunflower varieties. The highest methane (CH4) content was obtained from the variety of TTAE 13-7 with a value of 13.55 ml/200 mg DM.
