The Importance of Priming Applications For Seed Production

The use of seeds has been one of the most basic elements of agricultural activities since the beginning of agriculture. However, some seeds have germination problems or need some special conditions in order to germinate and develop well. For this reason, some seeds need preliminary applications before germination in order to provide effective germination conditions. There are many different forms of these pre-seed applications called priming. These applications differ according to the plant type and variety. For this reason, it is extremely important to know the best germination conditions for plants with hard seeds, germination problems or smaller seeds. In this article, what priming means and priming methods applied in some specially selected seeds are summarized as well as priming methods.
