Agricultural information and information policy in the European community

Three main factors determine EC's (European Community) agricultural information policy: the national information policies; the information policy of the European Community, and the Coamon Agricultural Policy (CAP). Results achieved so far on hand in various studies and actions are summarized. Problems which need urgent solution after the implementation of the European information network EURONET/DIANE concern the upgrading of EC information systea for on-line use of EURONET, the improvement of infrastructures, the training of users, and document delivery. Prospects with regard to possible application of new information technologies, as well as to possible future development of EC agriculture are discussed.
