Comparison of weed control methods for sugarcane [under La Granja conditions, Philippines]

A study was conducted to determine the economics of different weed control practices under La Granja conditions. Among the weed control combinations evaluated, the highest return was obtained from plots sprayed with blanket early post 2,4-D (1 gal/ha) combined with hand weeding (2x) along the rows and plow cultivation (1x) in between the furrows. This treatment may be used only in areas where the weed species are mostly Cyperus as in the study.
