The paper synthesizes the investigational activity concerning the manner in which mineral fertilizers, rate and time of application may affect dry matter yield, fodder quality and seed yield in Lolium multiflorum. It was found that in unirrigated conditions and when spring fertilized with N66 and N132, the dry matter yield was increased up to 9683-10723 kg/ha. Within similar conditions of fertilization, the production of seeds amounted to 1707-1754 kg/ha.
