After the filling of the Tabqa storage lake, the Euphrates waters have mineralization values between 0,220 and 0,440 g/l, electroconductivity values between 0,290 and 0,650 mmhos/cm and pH values varying between 7,5-8,6. The waters with mineralization less than 0,285 g/l belong to the bicarbonatic mineralization stage; the magnesium and calcium bicarbonates prevail in the saline composition. At mineralizations more than 0,285 g/l, the waters pass to a transition mineralization stage: chloride-bicarbonatic or suplhatic-bicarbonatic. Comparatively to the situation before building of the Tabqa Dam, it was found out that the Euphrates waters have lower mineralization and pH values and smaller contents of HCO-3, NA+, MG2+ and a little bit higher of SO4 2-, Cl- and Ca2+; the limit mineralization of the bicarbonatic stage changes from 500 mg/l to 265 mg/l. The quality is very good to good, having a lower hazard of alkalization and salinization. It was also found out an uniformity of the content of salts and saline composition of the Euphrates river water, finding no large variations of water chemism and quality during the year.
