Studies on the morphology and histology of hindgut of different developmental stages of Epilachna 12-28 punctata Wes. (Coccinellidae: Coleoptera) have been made. The hindgut is divisible into ileum, colon, and rectum. A distinct pyloric region is present between the ileum and midgut. The distal ends of six Malpighian tubules which arise equidistantly from the pylorus are associated with the rectal wall giving rise to a Cryptonephric condition. The pyloric region of all the larval instars, pupa and adult are provided with two sets of valvular structures-the anterior ventricular valve and the posterior proctodaeal valve. The longitudinal folds of the ileal epithelium are six in number in all the larval instars and pupa but in the adult they are numerous ranging from 11 to 14. Imperfect cellular partitions are visible in 3rd and 4th instar larvae, pupa and adult. The colonic epithelium is generally pleated into six0555 folds but in the 4th instar larve the number varies from 6 to 15.
