Sowing time x genotype interaction for the incidence of aphids in mustard
1987
Husain, Muhammad | Begum, N.
It was evident from this experiment that sowing time plays a vital role on the incidence of aphids in mustard, irrespective of any variety. Plants sown on October 20 had the minimum infestation and did not require any chemicals for controlling aphids. At first sowing only 3.19% of the plants were infested with aphids and at the last sowing (Dce. 19) 86.8% of the plants were infested. The percentage of infested plants increased gradually with the elapse of time. All the varieties followed the same pattern in their reaction to aphids and there were no significant difference among them regarding aphid infestation. It can be concluded from the present investigation that earlier sowing of mustard plants would be suitable for growing the crop without the use of any chemical pesticide.
