Field experiments with Co 1148 and CoS 770 were conducted to study their growth, yield and quality performances at 0.30 atm (normal) and 0.75 atm (stress). The results indicated that Co 1148 recorded significantly taller plants with more of green leaves, leaf area, tillers, millable canes, cane yield, CCs and lesser of dry leaves than CoS 770. Also, the millable canes in former were significantly taller in length, thicker in girth and heavier in weight than in the latter. These attributes decreased due to stress, the decline being significantly more in CoS 770. The varieties also showed significant in1396teractions with moisture. This together with magnitude of reductions in growth, yield and quality attributes led to conclude Co 1148 as a drought tolerant cult
