Quality control of livestock products in Korea

This review presents the general status of domestic production and quality control of livestock products and the regulations of drugs for animal uses in Korea. During the last decade, the livestock industry in this country expanded markedly according to the increment of national consumption of livestock products. Recently, it has a tendency to massproduce fast or instant foods and livestock processings due to rapid increment of collective meal services. Therefore, the quality control of various sources of animal protein, including meat, milk, egg and fishes, and the safety control of drugs for animal and marine uses were important not only for animal health but for public health. Author discussed on the present problems and solvings of food inspection system food safety and the necessity of enactment of a regulation on the drugs for marine uses and to strengthen or reform a law from the present regulation to a Departmental ordinance or a notice
