A new mid-season pear cultivar "yeongsan Bae"

The 255 seedlings obtained from Niitaka/Danhae in 1970 have been evaluated for their characteristics and a selection coded SD-155 have showed the best performance since 1979, and was designated as "Wonkyo-Na-05 in 1985. The important traits of Yeongsan Bae were as follows: It matures on 29 Sept., similar to Niitaka. The fruit of Yeongsan Bae is round with yellowish brown in shape. It weighs about 538g and the quality is excellent with very high soluble solid content (13.2 deg Bx), low acidity and low core ratio but the flesh often produce water core during storage.
