Yongjubyeo was released as a new rice variety by the Crop Experiment Station in 1986. It was medium maturing variety developed from the crosses IR5533/Milyang 29//Manseogbyeo///Pungsanbyeo. On the average, Yongjubyeo headed 2 days later than Taebaegbyeo. The culm length, panicle length and number of spikelets of Yongjubyeo were similar to those Pungsanbyeo. Yongjubyeo grain shape was shorter than Pangsanbyeo. Grain of Yongjubyeo were1720 translucent, very little white belly and white center and good eating quality. It was resistant to stripe virus, and moderate resistant to blast, bacterial leaf blight, dwarf virus, and black streaked dwarf virus diseases, but susceptible to major insect. The reaction of cold tolerance, germinability at low temperature and premature heading leaf discoloration were similar to Taebaegybyeo. Yongjubyeo yielded 5.76 t/ha in milled rice from the replicated yield trials during 1984-1985, 5 % higher than Taebaegbyeo, and 5.79 t/ha from the regional adaptation yield trials of 63 locations in 1985-1986. Yongjubyeo was recommanded for mid-western coastal and plain area of middle parts of K
