Further study on solar drying and storing onions [Philippines]
1984
Baluyot, S.M.
Significant differences were observed between method of drying and type of samples on the moisture content and rotten percentage of onion bulbs. Products attained lower moisture content when the solar tent drier was used to both whole and bulbs cut in half. Bulbs cut in half exhibited faster rate of moisture reduction than the bulbs. Percentage of rotten bulbs had highly significant result between samples and between drying method, and interaction. Cut bulbs exhibited faster rate of moisture removal and lower moisture content after 8 days of drying. Whole bulbs can only be stored for short time because of the high moisture content
