The occurrence of blackleg during growing season may be affected by the temperature during potato storage, site and date of tuber infection, depth and localization of the bacteria within the tuber, mechanical damage of seed potatoes, agrometeorological conditions, microflora antagonistic to the bacteria from the genus Erwinia.
