Researches regarding the development of some soil tillage and sowing methods for the maize crop

The research has been carried out within the Laboratory of non-irrigated agrotechnique at the Station of Agricultural Research Simnic, in the period 1981-1984, in a crop rotation of 3 years: sunflower - wheat - maize. The variants studied were fertilized with 100 kg N + 80 kg P2O5/ha. The soil on which the trials were located is reddish-brown, poorly leached, with a humus content of 1.9-2% and a pH of 5.8-6.0. The grain yield in the non-ploughed variants is in 4 years on average of 37.0-39.1 q/ha, and in the variants disked twice after the preceding crops, the yield increase is of 4.9-5.7 q1690/ha, being distinctly significant. In the ploughed variant an additional yield of 11.9-15.2 q/ha and a very significant increase was obtained as compared to the yield of the non-ploughed check. From the energetic point of view the maize crop is efficient both in the ploughed and in the disked and non-ploughed variants. The optimum sowing time for the experimented hybrids was between the 15th-30th April, when maize emerges in 10-12 days and records yield increases of 8% as compared to the sowing times from the 1st of April to the 15th of May.
