Field trials were conducted 1984-1986 in two different locations in the Weser-Ems region (state of Lower Saxony, FRG) where the risk of resistant strains of mildew occurred was considered to be high. In autumn-sown-barley, Azol- or Morpholin-derivates were equally e1619ffective against mildew. In autumn-sown-wheat only a limited number of results could be obtained. Differences in the efficiency of the tested compounds of one grouping were similar to the differences between the chemical groupings. The main factors influencing the performances were the type of coumpound used, the date of application and the grade of infestation as well as species and variety of the grown crop. Under the tested regional conditions a combination of compounds is considered to be preferable to vary the active ingredients. Considering other important fungi causing damage in autumn-sown-barley, combinations of organic phosphorous compounds and Azol-derivates can be applied.
