Five hundred and fourty four samples of wild soybeans (G. soja) with 1.00-2.99 g/100 seeds collected from all counties of Heilongjiang province were planted in Harbin to reveal the relationship between protein/oil content and ecological environment for soybean growing, result showed that: 1. There is a negative correlation between protein and oil content in G.soja; 2. Correlations of protein content with latitude and altitude are negative (r=-0.594** and r=-0.347** respectively), and correlations between oil content and altitude are positive (r=0.370** and r=0.265** ) in G.soja. 3. Meteorological factors showed important effect on protein and oil content of G.soja, the most important of which is average temperature from flower beginning to maturing. Two Chinese Solar Terms, from great heat to Autumn begin and from summer solstice to slight heat, effect significantly content of protein and oil (r=0.295** and r=-0.423** respectively). There is a significant negative correlation between protein content and sunlight hours in the first phase of reproductive growth, but in the last phase the correlation is nonsignificant. There is a negative correlation between oil content and sunlight hours. 4. According to the relationship between protein/oil content and ecological environment, one can mark distributive zones of chemical quality of G.soja in Heilongjiang province. Those zones contain four regions and seven subregions.
