Evaluation of the "single cell protein" BCR CRM 273,-274, certified reference materials for foodstuffs

Recently, the Bureau of Reference Materials (BCR) of the European Communities issued 2 reference materials "single cell protein" BCR CRM 273,-274 respectively, certified for the major constituents Ca, K, Fe, N and P and the trace elements As, Cd, Co, Cu, Mn, Pb, Se and Zn. They are intended for use by laboratories specialised in analysing foodstuffs or similar biological matrices. The 2 materials will be evaluated for their performance as a CRM. Following criteria will be scrutinised: their respresentative character, stability and homogeneity, the choice of elements certified, the sample digestion and the certification strategy
