Yield and quality of mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) planted on several kind of growing media
1983
Sumiati, E. (Balai Penelitian Hortikultura, Lembang (Indonesia))
The effect of several kind of food crop waste materials on growth and production of mushrooms, Pleurotus ostreatus, was investigated. The mixture of soybean, mungbean and red kidney bean pods which have C/N ratio value 51.60 proved to be the best medium for growth and production of Pleurotus ostreatus in Lembang. The average yield was 433.30 grams from 1 kg of medium used. The mixture of food crop waste materials which have lower (35.90) and higher (123.10) C/N ratio i.e. mixture of rice straws and soybean pods, and mixture of rice straws, rice hulls and corn steams, respectively, gave lower yields of 28.00 grams and 26.00 grams from 1 kg of medium. C/N ratio value range from lower to higher did not affect Pleurotus ostreatus quality (i.e. diameter, water content and protein content).
