Vegetation change attributable to wild animals

The impact of introduced wild animals on the indigenous vegation of New Zealand has varied. Three groups of factors are responsible for this variation in modification: patterns of animal colonization and distribution, environmental influences, and vegation composition and structure. We can use these factors to assess the risk of modification to vegetation. At present we can assess this risk for some areas and some vegetation types. Further research is needed before this approach can be applied to a wider range of vegetation types
