Effect of lime and phosphate fertilizer on growth and yield of peanut

Field experiment was conducted to test the effect of lime and phosphate fertilizer on plant growth and yield of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) grown on red-yellow podsolic soil at farmer's field in Way Abung, Lampung. The experiment was conducted during the wet season 1984/85, using a split-plot design with three replications. The main plots were four lime rates of 0; 1; 2; and 3 t CaCO3/ha and the sub-plots were four phosphate fertilizer rates of 0; 0,1; 0,2; and 0,3 t P205/ha. The results indicated that there was no interaction between lime and phosphate fertilizer. Lime increased number and weight of nodules, number of mature pods, weight of 100 seeds, and yield, but high lime applications decreased the yield. Phosphate fertilizer increased both yield and yield components. Dry pods yield weight was significantly correlated with number of mature pods and 100-seed weight.
