Discusses the reporting system in New Zealand as the interface between the agricultural systems analysts and the users. Historically in New Zealand agricultural systems analysis has operated primarily within the hard systems area, modelling the technical, financial and biological relationship of the farming operation. No effort has been spent on identifying the needs of farm operators, resulting in the exclusion of the human component of the farm management system. A number of factors regarding the enhancement of the existing hard systems models are recommended
