An aqueous neem seed kernel extract was sprayed at different concentrations on sweet corn seedlings. The fresh residues were allowed to dry and assayed against larvae of Sesamia nonagrioides. Larval survival, larval weight and percent pupation served as the criteria of activity. No pupation occurred with 1 and 0.5 per cent neem extract, and only 10 per cent of the larvae pupated at 0.1 per cent. The residual effect of the 1 per cent aqueous extract was also investigated, 1, 3 and 7 days after treatment. Larval weight was significantly lower on 1- and 3-day-old residues than on untreated plants, with only 10 per cent pupation occurring
