This article discusses the economic aspect of biogas production and utilization in developing countries. The factors affecting economic evaluation of biogas plants are listed and the cost fractionation in construction is also reviewed. The rationale for and against community-size digesters verses household units is discussed. Economic analyses of the Indian and Philippine experiences are shown.
