[The development of production costs and income in agriculture]

The results of the joint research project concerning the production costs in agriculture and the formation of farm income are presented in this report. In the first part of the report the development of the prices of some farm products is compared to the development of production costs of these products in 1976-1988. The cost calculations are based on farm models. Calculations presented in this article are very important background data when the producer prices of agricultural products are determined under the Agricultural Incomes Act. In the second part of the report the results of the follow-up system for agricultural incomes are presented. The main task of this system is to follow up the development of farm incomes of farms representing different production lines, different sizes and different regions. The farm models included in this system are based solely on data from bookkeeping farms. In this article short descriptions of farm models and the development of the prices of farm products and production inputs in 1982-1989 are presented. The development of returns, costs and incomes on farm models representing different lines of production is studied.
