Ensiling field peas (Pisum sativum) with inoculant and enzymes

The combination of the inoculant and enzymes was most effective in lowering the pH in the silages of the first harvest. This effect was less apparent in the silages of the second harvest and there were no differences between treatments in the silages of the third harvest. Enzymes alone were not effective in dropping the pH. The enzymes, and the inoculant plus enzymes treatments resulted in higher WSC content in the silages of the first harvest (ca. 5,9 % in DM compared to ca. 2 % in DMin the first harvest). The combined treatment of the inoculant plus enzymes decreased the percents of NDF and ADF in the silages of the first harvest (32,2 % and 29,6 % vs. ca. 36,5 % and 33 %, respectively).
