The data revealed that all role concepts studied did not influence the number of artificially inseminated carabaos of both Ts [trainees] and NTs [non trainees] with the exception of role motivation in dealing with farmers which had negative influence on the NTs only. An exact similar trend was also observed for the number of successfully impregnated carabaos. Found to have positive significant relationship with the number of farmer-recipients of information on AI-PD [artificial insemination-pregnancy diagnosis] of the NTs was role perception. Role capabilities of the Ts had negative effects on the number of farmer-recipients of information. However, only role conflict and role ambiguity of the NTs influenced cost-effectiveness of the training program in terms of number of information recipients. Role ambiguity had positive significant relationship to role perception of the NTs. The problems encountered by both Ts and NTs related mostly to their dealings with farmers and nature of work assignment. In dealing with the farmers, the problems cited were: tardiness of farmers during AI-PD activities, late reporting of breeders' heat period and reluctance of farmers to attend AI-PD activities. As regards work assignment, problems mentioned were lack of AI equipment, low conception rate, unavailability of chute, insufficient training period, AI was an added workload only inadequate logistic support for AI-PD activities. These problems need immediate attention from all people concerned in the promotion of the production of improved breed carabaos. Suggestions to remedy the problems focused on the strategies of encouraging and assisting farmers to adopt AI-PD technology and on the provision of sufficient support for AI-PD activities.
