Several years of experience with Hoe 75032 (Amidosulfuron) for weed control in cereals

For several years questions of crop tolerance, weed spectrum, dose rates, behaviour in the soil and on rotational crops have been evaluated for Hoe 75032 (Amidosulfuron). Winterbarley, springbarley, winterrye and oats tolerated dose rates of 30 and 60 g ai/ha Amidosulfuron, applied at different growth stages from begin of tillering to end of tillering up to beginning of shooting, without any visual effects and influence on the yields. Amidosulfuron controls with 30 g ai/ha used in wintercereals in spring cleavers, camomile, cruciferous species and field-forget-me-not. The control of cleavers was very consistent in regard of crops, application timing and years. Applications on bare ground demonstrated a fast reduction of the biological efficacy within 90 days on turnips, which where planted at different times after product application. Winter- and spring-cereals, fieldbeans, spring and winterrape seed, sugarbeets and maize, planted at the regular seeding time also showed no effects. Several years of evaluations on winter rape seed, which was planted following an application of Hoe 75032 in cereals in spring, did not produce any negative effects. Several four year crop rotation studies, with one application per year, did not result in any damages to the main crops and to the intercrops mustard and rape seed. Sugarbeets during the fourth year after application of Amidosulfuron (30, 60 g. ai/ha) showed neither visual damage, nor differences in yield in comparison to the untreated. The results confirm the crop tolerance in all cereal crops, the excellent control of the main target weed cleaver, and did not show problems on the main crops in a conventional crop rotation
