The report provides a historical picture of the implementation and development of Indonesian selective cutting and replanting system since the early stages of forest exploitation in the form of forest concession system up to the present time. The report also analyses several constraints faced in the implementation process and the action programmes already attempted in the efforts to ensure a disciplinary implementation of TPTI in a complete and sound manner, particularly within the scope of forest management and forest maintenance toward timber improvement in logged over areas. This report is based on the policies and directives introduced by the Directorate General of Forest Utilization and the inputs various sources, among others from the Ministry of Forestry, Regional and Provincial Forestry Services as well as from private sectors.
