A trial of satiating crop rotation with wheat has been carried out on the trial field of the Agricultural Experimental Station at Lom, on calcareous chernozem. It has been found that upon long-term growing of wheat as a monocrop the number of plant sick of basal root rot and fusariose is gradually increased. The interruption of the monocrop with pea every two years leads to a strong reduction in the number of the plants sick of basal root rot and fusariose. Fertilization with optimum rates increases the wheat plant resistance to diseases. The monocrop interruption with pea every two years increases the yields, and improves wheat quality.
