The graduated effect of homologous ethoxylated surfactants on the contact angle has been demonstrated using the Genapol X types. Optimal lowering of the contact angles has been attained by X-080 and X-060. However, the differences to the types with smaller EO chain length is inconsiderable and within the error of measurement. The different contact angle lowering of different species can be explained considering the special influence of morphological aspects. Detailed information on the wetting process can be provided by studying the wetting kinetics and the concentration dependence of the surfactants
