1990
Pompi, I. (Ministry of Lands, Agriculture and Water Development, Bindura (Zimbabwe). Dept. of Agricultural Technical and Extension Services)
The paper discusses the importance of permaculture to sustainable agriculture. It states that the resource base of agriculture is becoming diminished through overuse and environmental misuse. The energy, soil and water resources cannot sustain agriculture into the far future at their present rate of use. The paper explains the use of organic manure and the effects of chemical fertilizers and other chemicals; companion planning for pest and disease control and limiting factors. It states that researchers must study cropping systems that rely less on chemicals and new varieties and farmers must be willing to buy them
