32 mixed-breed dogs were reared free of helminths, and then each was experimentally infected with 500 infective larvae of U. stenocephala. For efficacy against adult worms, treatment was given on day 35 after infection, and the dogs were killed for worm counts on day 42. For efficacy against immature stages, treatment was given on day 7 after infection, and dogs were killed for worm counts on day 37. The trials showed that for dose rates of milbemycin oxime up to 1.2 mg per kg there was no significant reduction in the immature or mature burdens of U. stenocephala.
