Susceptibility of freshly-mulesed lambs to flystrike and the effectiveness of propetamphos as a wound dressing [Lucilia cuprina]. Short communication

Trials on lambs gave results which contrasted with previous work in showing that fresh mulesing wounds can be attractive to Lucilia cuprina and susceptible to blowfly strike. Both a commercial blowfly dressing fluid containing propetamphos and propetamphos in mineral oil offered some protection against flystrike, although the formulation in mineral oil was clearly superior, reducing flystrike development for more than 3 weeks.
