Der Erhaltungsbedarf an Energie und Protein war in den beiden physiolog. Stadien gleich: 531, 529 kJ ME/kg und 3 g DCP/kg metabol. Gewicht. Saugfohlen hatten taegl. Zunahmen zwischen 1405 und 891 g und Jungpferde nach dem Absetzen mit 2 Jahren zwischen 773 und 447 g. Die Nettoeffizienz von ME und DCP fuer Wachstum von Fohlen betrug 40.6 bzw. 46.1%, die von Jungpferden 40.3 bzw. 44.4%, der Erhaltungsbedarf differierte von 506 kJ ME und 4.51 g DCP bis 587 kJ und 3.51 g.
