Behaviour of Phytophthora clandestina propagules at a field site in Western Australia [fungal pathogen of subterranean clover]

Using a most-probable-number (MPN) method, the population of propagules was found to increase in January (summer) and decline in June and July (winter). There was no correlation beween MPN and root disease index, disease suppressiveness index, rainfall, soil moisture or temperature. Root disease index and disease suppressiveness index were negatively correlated. Subterranean clover was apparently the sole source of fungal inoculum.
