The land systems of approximately 16.8 million ha of pastoral land were mapped west of Winton to the Northern Territory border and south of Dajarra to the South Australian border. Land systems are areas with similar landforms, soils and vegetation. Climate, geology, geomorphology, hydrology, vegetation, soils, land systems, current land use and resource use are discussed. Land system maps (part 1 and 2) at 1:500 000 and a vegetation map at 1:1 000 000 accompany the report.
