Study concerning the estimation of vitamin requirements of broilers
1993
Taranu, I. | Criste, R.D. | Burlacu, G. (Institutul de Biologie si Nutritie Animala, Balotesti (Romania))
The authors studied the effect of low vitamin levels included in the premix on the weight gain, growth rate, specific feed intake, and health condition of three groups of broilers of 38.8 g initial bodyweight fed three different types of diets. The experiment lasted 1 to 56 days; broilers were housed in metabolic cages. Vitamin levels lower than the recommended ones (Burlacu, 1983) were not found to significantly affect weight gain and specific intake. Quite the contrary: feeding higher vitamin levels (as against the Burlacu recommendations) with a lowered protein: energy ratio was found to significantly reduce animal performances.
