Farmers' participation in old-age pension insurance system

Slovenian farmers have been included into an old-age pension insurance system since 1972 by introduction of farmers' old-age insurance. The legal regulation of old-age pension insurance jurisdiction for farmers has been subject to changes for the last two decades. Farmers with state insurance have paid their contribution from the lowest possible old-age pension basis. That is why their pensions' rights have been limited and their pensions have been low. The analysis of farmers' participation in old-age pension insurance system indicates a phenomenon of reduction of the number of active farm insurants on one side, and decrease of the number of the farm pensioners on the other side. Relationship between the two categories is even less favorable than in total adult Slovenian population.
