Economic impact analysis of the training and visit system of agricultural extension on small-holder rice production in Nigeria

The study analyses the economic impact of training and visit in Enugu state of Nigeria. An econometric analysis was made of the impact of extension on rice output and of the influence of farmer and farm characteristics on the adoption rate. By way of statistic description, the different adoption groups were analysed according to number of farms visits, education level and age of farmers, and farm size. The employment of experience extension agents, especially subject-matter-experts, and the adoption of the "Farmer First Paradigm" to agricultural research and development are o.a. recommended.
