Growth and output of I-214 poplar are evaluated on 12-year series. I-214 poplar has been growing in special cultures with intensive cultural treatments in order to produce maximum output of pulpwood at various spacings. Processing of the above data indicates that the wider spacings had positive effects on both height and diameter growth of the investigated poplar on the sites concerned. This documented that maximum mean height and mean diameter were 23.0 m and 27.1 cm, respectively, at the widest spacing of 3.0 x 3.0 m. Maximum total volume production (359.9 m3 per ha) as well as the largest average volume increment (30.0 m3 per ha) were obtained at the spacing 3.0 x 1.5 m while these values were lowest at the spacing 3.0 x 1.0 m. Volume production was relatively balanced for the other spacings, and only somewhat lower than the spacing 3.0 x 1.5 m.
