Effects of selection logging on rainforest productivity [north Queensland]

Data from 212 permanent sample plots showed no evidence of any decline in rainforest productivity after 3 cycles of selection logging. Relative productivity was defined as the difference between observed diameter increments and increments predicted from a diameter increment function which incorporated tree size, stand density and site quality. There is evidence that if any decline in permanent productivity does exist, it does not exceed 6 percent per harvest.
