Linear model with fixed effects was used to analyze production traits of pigs and primiparous cows and to evaluate the influence of genotype x environment interaction on their variability. Four pig genotypes were tested in different environments (testing station, pilot and commercial fattening). Statistically significant influence of the genotype x environment interaction on lean meat percentage, carcass weight, backfat and average daily gain were found. As for the cows (Slovakian Simmental, Holstein and their crosses respectively) the following characteristics were evaluated: milk, fat and protein production, fat and protein percentage as well. The records came from 5 environments (herds) with different technology and level of the treatment. Highly significant genotype x environment interaction was found for all traits studied. The results achieved are also graphically presented. Insufficient stability of some genotypes in different environments was stated.
