Response to the infection of ears with Fusarium culmorum was studied in field trials with 18 Czech and Slovak winter wheat varieties for three years. Tolerance to the infection with this fungus was evaluated on the basis of yield character performance in the infection variant and in comparison with noninfected variant. Analyses of variance showed significant differences between the varieties and years in all the examined traits. Pathogen-caused reduction of thousand grain weight, grain number per ear and grain weight per ear was 46.7 %, 25.9 % and 58 %, respectively. No highly resistant varieties have been found among the tested wheats.
