To acquire credible information on the genotypes, a complete collection of genotypes is evaluated at one locality within one year, which will make possible to establish and record the reaction of biological material to identical, and well-known growing conditions. Considering the required storage capacity it is assumed that the full information on genotype collection of the respective species will be stored on CD-ROMs. In the first stage the objective is to build a system of information retrieval concerning genotypes. In the second stage the system will involve classification and selection of genotypes according to setup criteria and values of traits and characteristics. In the third stage the system should be expanded to enable the simulation and modelling of genotypes for breeding under an expert system. Basic data on more than 5 thousand genotypes from 30 plant species were collected by the research team.
