Immunogenicity and antigenic relationship of Salmonella enterotoxin with other enterotoxins [cholera toxin, shiga toxin, heat-labile enterotoxin of Escherichia coli]

allemand. Aus Schweinen isolierte Staemme von Salmonella typhimurium wurden fuer die Enterotoxin-Produktion verwendet. Kaninchen-Antiserum neutralisierte die Enterotoxizitaet sowohl von gereinigten als auch rohem Enterotoxin von Salmonella typhimurium und auch anderen Salmonella Serotypen. Es wurde keine Kreuzreaktion von Salmonella-Enterotoxin mit Choleratoxin, hitzelabilem Enterotoxin von Escherichia coli oder Shigatoxin festgestellt. Hitze, pH und proteolytische Enzyme (Protease, Papain, Trypsin) hatten Einfluss auf die Toxizitaet als auch Antigenitaet des Salmonella-Enterotoxins, waehrend Formalin-Behandlung die enterotoxische Aktivitaet vollstaendig inaktivierte, aber keinen nachweisbaren Effekt auf die Antigenitaet hatte. Aus diesem Grund koennte formalinbehandeltes Enterotoxin als ein Vakzin zur Verhuetung des durch enterotoxische Salmonellen hervorgerufenen Diarrhoe-Syndroms einsetzbar sein.
